Navy Pier, one of the top attractions in Chicago, celebrates fall with weekend fireworks, Fear Haunted House, Carnival of Curiosities, Daily Gas Giveaways, Adopt a Pet, Patch's Pooch Parade and Costume Contest. Visit Navy Pier with the family this fall for a scary good time.
Fear Haunted House
Good times are fun for the family at the lake front play land. The Fear Haunted House at Navy Pier comes with the warning that is is scary fun for older children and adults only. The Haunted House is not appropriate for small children.
Carnival of Curiosities
Every Friday and Saturday, before the fireworks show, the Grand Staircase and Dock Street transforms into a dazzling spectacle, with street performances. The scare free interactive show for he whole family features fire spinners, break dancers, acrobats, drummers, stilt walkers and colorful costumed characters. Sideshow characters include the Fortune Teller, Organ Grinder and Human Monkey, Traveling Medicine man,
- Fridays: October 3, 10, ,17, 24 and 31: Pier Park Characters perform from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Dock Street Performances are from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
- Saturdays, October 4, 11, 18, 25 and November 1: Pier Park Character perform from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Dock Street Performances are from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
- Sunday, October 5, 12, 19 and 26: Pier Park Character perform from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Ride the McDonald's Ferris Wheel and listen to eerie Chicago ghost stories inside the gondola car while riding above Navy Pier for a scary good time.
There is no admission for the Carnival character appearances and performances. Tickets are required for Pier Park rides.
Fireworks at Navy Pier
Halloween fireworks add sparkle to the skies every Friday and Saturday night until November 1. The fireworks spectacular, presented by Infinity Insurance, takes place at 9:00 pm.
Daily Gas Card Giveaway
Ten gas cards will be given away every day from September 26 to October 31. Register at the Navy Pier Guest Services desk only. People must be 18 years or older to enter, one entry per person. Gas cards in the giveaway have a value of $20 for gas. Cars have no cash value.
Best Dressed Canines Parade on October 25
On Saturday, October 25, from 10;00 AM to 12:30 PM, pampered pooches parade in costume for a fun afternoon at Navy Pier. Patch, the Navy Pier Pirate Dog, leads the canine parade down Dock Street. Entertainment includes Fun Dog Psychic Entertainment. Winners receive PETCO gift cards, Navy Fear tickets and Seadog Lake Cruise passes. The Grand winner will be awarded the title of honorary 2009 Seadog Cruise Mascot.
Howl-O-Ween Adoption Event
On October 26, from 10 am to 7 pm, 25 animal shelters, including the Anti Cruelty Society and members of the Chicago animal Shelter Alliance (CASA) will hold a huge adoption event, in a effort to find loving homes for cats and dogs. Howl-O-Ween Adoption Event is held at Festival Hall B, at the east end of Navy Pier. Pets are welcome.
