The New York State Fair is a 12 day summer showcase of the the best of New York State's agriculture, entertainment, education, industry and technology. The fair dates are August 21 through September 1, 2008. The Empire Expo Center will host over 375 acres of animals, exhibits and displays. The New York State Fair is the largest single event held at the Empire Expo Center in Syracuse.Nearly one million people visited the fair last year, to enjoy the exhibits, entertainment, midway rides and mountains of mouth watering food.
Fair Attractions
Fair attractions include the Agricultural Museum, Carriage Museum, Livestock Competitions, Antique Tractor Display, Art and Craft Exhibitions, Commerford Petting Zoo, Coronas Hollywood Circus, Culinary Competitions, Daily Parade, Dairy Products Building, Historic Train Exhibit, Horticulture Building, Indian / Iroquois Village, James E. Strates Midway, Moo Country and much more. The fair offers a diverse variety of entertainment, so there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.
Fair to Showcase NY Wine
New York is the third largest grape and wine producing state in the United States. This year the state fair will showcase the accomplishments of the award winning wineries and give visitors a chance to enjoy a glass of New York State wine. Wine will be available at three new venues: The Wine Village, The Grandstand Winery and The Chevy Court Concession Stand. Wine Village will be located outside the Coca Cola Coliseum on restaurant row and near the Agricultural museum.
The Agricultural Museum is featuring a display about the New York Wine industry. New York produces more than $1 billion worth of wine every year. An estimated 36,000 people are employed by wine makes and related industries. The wine industry gives the economy of New York a boost estimated a $6 billion a year.
Headlining Entertainment at the Grandstand
A great line up of top entertainment is planned at the Grandstand. Grandstand entertainment requires an additional ticket purchase. Tickets can be purchased on line through Live Nation or through Ticketmaster.

Fair Ticket and General Information
Admission is $10. Children 12 and under are free every day of the fair.
Special Days
- Seniors 60 and over are admitted Free on Monday and Tuesday, August 25 and 26.
- Students 16 and under are admitted free on Friday, August 29.
- Veteran's receive free admission with military ID on Thursday, August 28.
- Native Americans receive free admission on Friday, August 29.
Parking is available in designated lots around the fair. Parking fee is $5 per vehicle.
The New York State Fair is Thursday, August 21 through Labor Day. The fair grounds are in Syracuse, NY, adjacent to Route 690 West.
Gates open at 8:00 am daily. Exhibit buildings are open 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. The Midway is open until midnight.
