Make Up artist Paige Padgett has released information about her predictions for the hottest make-up trends of 2009, stating in a press release that the overall look is free-spirited yet polished. New, high tech products will help to create a fact that has a finished texture. Eco-friendly is one of the best buzz words in cosmetics marketing for 2009. Beauty buzz words in marketing makeup include sustainable, ethical, organic and natural.
Paige Padgett has been a successful makeup artist for over five years, working on popular television shows such as Shear Genius 2, The Biggest Loser and the Today Show.
Ms. Padget predicts that the big trends in cosmetics include a nude face, metallic’s, eco friendly and exotic.
- The Nude Face has come back in a variety of manifestations. The face may look nude, but this is not naked. It takes primers and a myriad of skin-preps for a look that is makeup worked to the max. The face is flawlessly finished. This look is highly groomed and very sophisticated.
- Gloss, Glitter, and Gossamer is a key beauty story this year. Cheeks will glimmer with luminizer. Eyes will sparkle with glitter. Gloss will make the skin gleam.
- Metallics create instant luxe and drama. Faces will be drenched in metallic shades of gold, bronze, copper, and platinum.
- Eco and Ethical is tipped for the greatest opportunity for growth in cosmetics. Organic Monitor published late last year valued the global organic and naturals market at $7 billion, and forecasts that it would surpass the $10 billion mark by the end of the decade. Natural and organic cosmetic are formulated to be chemically clean that replace syntietic chemicas with ingredients that are organic.
- India and China are setting trends. Cosmetic companies and consumers alike are looking to authentic remedies from the East for beauty inspiration such as traditional Chinese and Indian Ayuredic Medicine. Aveda is a global brand that is well established with products that are inspired by Ayuredic Medicine and aromatherapy.
Natural Cosmetics Gain Popularity in Asia
According to the Organic Monitor website, the demand for natural and organic cosmetics is surging in Asia. As Asian consumer turning to natural cosmetics, Western cosmetic companies are capitalizing on the trend by selling their natural brands to the Asian market.
As the Asian companies witness the Western market gaining inroads, they are slowly entering the natural and organic cosmetic market by developing and launching natural cosmetics. Global brands, such as Aveda and Dr. Hauschka are well established in Asia, but smaller natural brands are making inroads.
The cosmetics industry is trending toward a finished look with polish and shine that is created using natural, eco-friendly products.
