Country star Carrie Underwood won six fan voted honors at the inaugural American Country Awards. Discovered on American Idol, Underwood is a mega-success.

Country star Carrie Underwood took top honors at the inaugural American Country Awards in a show that was held at MGM Grand Gardens in Las Vegas and broadcast live on Fox TV on December 6, 2010. Underwood, who was discovered on American Idol in 2004, has become a mega-success in the music industry.

Carrie Underwood Trophies at American Country Awards

Carrie Underwood took home six trophy guitars from the American Country Awards, a recognition voted on by fans. Underwood was followed in number of awards by Lady Antebellum with four awards. Alan Jackson received the Greatest Hits Awards. The vocal group Rascal Flatts received the Award. Additional award winners included: Toby Keith, Trace Atkins, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Josh Turner and Easton Corbin.

Underwood's awards included Artist of the Year, Artist of the Year - Female, Album of the Year for 'Play On,' Single of the Year - Female for 'Cowboy Casanova,' touring Headline Package of the Year and Music Video - Female for 'Cowboy Casanova.'

The American Country Awards, hosted by Trace Adkins, focused on the music and entertainment of the artist rather than the awards themselves. Carrie Underwood attended the awards and accepted her six trophy guitars, but did not perform.

Carrie Underwood Discovered on American Idol

Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell once described recognizing Carrie Underwood's star quality when he first saw her on American Idol. He said that it was like Carrie Underwood was in color and everyone surrounding her was in black and white. Clearly, Underwood is one of American Idol's biggest success stories.

Carrie Underwood Riding High Personally and Professionally

Underwood received her third American Music Award for Favorite Country Album. Underwood received the honor in 2010 for 'Play On.' Each of her three albums have been picked for this recognition, including Some Hearts in 2007, Carnival Ride in 2008 and Play On in 2010.

Carrie Underwood has been nominated for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "Temporary Home." Underwood has received the Grammy in this category three times.

Carrie Underwood is riding high in her music career and in her personal life. The Country Cutie, who often dresses in princess-like gowns on the Red Carpet is on the fast track in her career, with numerous awards and accolades since bursting onto the scene in American Idol in 2004. Underwood married hockey player Mike Fisher in 2010.
